What Happened To Linda Collins?

Less than 2 weeks into their murder probe, authorities detained a suspect, Rebecca Lyn O’Donnell, one of her best friends of Collins. O’Donnell had served on the political campaigns of Collins for state senator of Arkansas and aided her in her business ventures. Her motive, as per prosecutors, was money. O’Donnell had reportedly been stealing from Collins, and the children of Collin believe that a confrontation may have direct to the death of their mother.

Collins was recently divorced, and her former husband Judge Phil Smith owned numerous gold and silver coins, which Collins allegedly could not discover in her house. These same coins were late found to have been sold by O’Donnell in Memphis and Little Rock, about half a year prior to the murder, for $15,000. But it was ultimately the removal of security cameras from her home of Collin that broke the case. She forgot one of the cameras and could not completely delete the footage from the others, which view her standing over the body of Collin with a knife and covered in blood.

Linda Collins Death Cause

In the demise of former senator Collins, O’Donnell has been charged with capital murder, abuse of a cadaver, and tampering with proof. Though she also tried to solicit murders for hire while in jail awaiting trial: those of the former husband of Collin, Judge Phil Smith, prosecutor Henry Boyce, and Judge Harold Erwin. These landed her with additional charges of soliciting killing.

Finally, O’Donnell took a plea deal on the 6th of August, 2020, admitting that she had gone to her house of Linda “and intentionally assassinated her and then hid the body.” Had she not taken the contract, O’Donnell would have been up for a potential demise sentence if the case had gone to trial.
