When Alexis Tiara Murphy was alive, she was a social media star. She was last seen alive at a gas station in Virginia. More than nine years ago, she left her family hurting, wondering, and waiting for her to come back home.
It didn’t matter that the 17-year-old had not been found. Randy Allen Taylor from Lovingston was found guilty of her murder in 2014. Taylor, 55, was sentenced to two life terms in prison for kidnapping and killing a high school student from Shipman who went to his high school there.
Authorities say that they have now been able to end the case of the teen who was killed.
What happened to Alexis Murphy?
It was just like any other day for Alexis. She woke up and did her chores. In Shipman, Virginia, she moved out of her house and asked her mother for money to get her hair done.
People say she had a good time and laughed a lot before leaving the house. Was the statement made by Alexis’s mother, Laura Murphy. She left the house, and that was the last time I saw her!
It was a white 2003 Nissan Maxima being driven by the social media star. In 2013, she was seen for the last time. Her body was found five miles away.
The news that Alexis had died was terrible, and many people came out to show their support for her family and to hold the person who did it to account. Young and smart, she wasn’t even halfway around the world when she was killed in a cruel way.
All About the Murder Case of Alexis Murphy
In the evening of Aug. 3, 2013, Murphy didn’t show up at a Liberty gas station in Lovingston, Virginia, where he had been seen on surveillance video before. C-Ville Weekly says that the teen told her parents that she was going to Lynchburg to buy hair extensions.
According to the FBI, her white 2003 Nissan Maxima GLE SE was found three days later in Charlottesville. In the history of the world, her death was one of the most shocking and terrifying events.
As local, state, and federal law enforcement looked into Murphy’s kidnapping, they saw Taylor on security footage at the gas station holding the door open for the teen as she came in, so they knew him. At his May 2014 trial, a cashier said that Taylor and Murphy were seen talking to each other, and she said that was true.
The store clerk had told the police about Taylor’s unique Daffy Duck tattoo on her neck, so they called the police. When police shared photos of the man who was seen talking to Murphy, a local porn store owner recognised him as Taylor, according to Investigation Discovery.
Where Is Randy Allen Taylor Now?
The charges against Taylor for the death of Murphy were filed on May 1, 2014. His sentence for two life terms came just one week later. He was found guilty and sentenced to two life terms for killing innocent girls without them having any say in it.
When Taylor went missing, Samantha Clarke, a 14-year-old girl from Virginia, was also linked to her. It was found on private land in Lovingston on December 3, 2020.
When the body parts were found in Richmond on February 5, 2021, they were taken to the Central District Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME). There, they were positively identified as Alexis Murphy. To give Murphy’s family time to grieve and make the right preparations, the identification of the remains was kept a secret until February 17, 2021, when it will be made public.
